The Athletic Complex Manager will oversee the staff of the Multipurpose Building and facilitate day-to-day operations as a fitness facility during normal business hours. The main goal is to ensure a safe and efficient exercise environment for the patrons of the facility. The Athletic Complex Manager will also support activities and events that are officially scheduled to take place in the Multipurpose Building and around Post. This position will include all of the responsibilities of the position of Recreation Specialist, but in addition will also include supervisory responsibilities of the building, staff, and schedule of events. The Athletic Complex Manager will collaborate with the Leads of other departments and will provide support in the building’s use as an event center. The Athletic Complex Manager will also create and maintain successful recreation and exercise programs for the benefit of employees and guests of Camp Dawson.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Ensure that all patrons sign in at the front desk. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations of the facility. Inform patrons of rules concerning dress code, conduct, and/or equipment and enforce rules as needed. Monitor and document the use of all sporting equipment by patrons. Explain and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment. Explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in activity. Observe guests to detect and correct mistakes according to the Manual Therapy & Personal Trainer’s Scope of Practice. Design and implement training programs for individuals and group sessions. Camp Dawson Event Center Athletic Complex Manager January 2024 Organize and/or conduct classes Coordinate with OPS or POC for the use of facilities to prevent scheduling conflicts. Schedule gym and/or floor closure and report CDEC Senior Management at least 48 hours in advance. Assist during events. Keep account of all keys used to unlock secure restricted areas of the building. Keep record of equipment that is allowed to be signed out. Maintain and clean facility areas to include the main gym floor, all floors and equipment, all glass inside and outside of the building, all equipment downstairs, sauna rooms, storage rooms, and front desk office area. Remove trash from building to the dumpster as needed. Launder fitness towels. Patrol facilities to detect damage to facilities and reports damages to Senior Management. Submit the necessary work orders to Senior Management for repair of equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise 2 to 3 employees at the Multipurpose Building (MPB). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or personal trainer certification with six months to one year related experience in training. CDEC may assist with obtaining the personal trainer certification. Restrictions apply. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Word Processing software and Publisher Design software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations First Aid/CPR/AED, Life Guard, Personal Trainer certification or equivalent degree. CDEC may assist with obtaining some trainer certification. Restrictions apply. On-the-Job training and attend training as required to work for CDEC. Anti-Terrorism Awareness Certificate. Valid Driver’s License when operating CDEC vehicles.
